Locations: St. John’s, Mount Pearl, CBS, Paradise, Torbay, Pouch Cove, Witless Bay, Holyrood, Clarenville and Gander
Job Type: Full-time, Casual, Call-In, and Relief Staff
Salary: $17/hour
Hours: 3 – 35 hours/week
Start Date: September 2024
Training: Paid training will be provided for food preparation, food safety, First Aid, and OH&S
Job Requirements

- A typical kitchen day may include (but is not limited to)
- Lifting and moving various food products, equipment, etc. around the kitchen weighing 1-30 lbs.
- Standing and walking is required during a typical shift to prepare, cook, and serve our meals.
- Depending on the school, work would be completed in either a large or a small kitchen. Bending and kneeling will be required; A keen eye to detail is required. The ideal candidate must be able to problem-solve, complete required forms, documents, and paperwork.
- School Lunch Kitchens are fast-paced environments. Candidates must express their ability to keep up with the pace and demand of daily kitchen operations. (Wait till you see those steps on your fitness tracker!)
- Health & safety practices, food allergies, and food safety principals must be followed
- Fun and laughter? This goes hand and hand with working in a school environment (a tolerance for knock-knock jokes is necessary when serving young children, a hot nutritious lunch each day)
- Previous cooking experience would be considered an asset for this role but is not necessary.
- All candidates must provide a valid Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check before starting the training program. As well as a valid email address, Internet access will be required for various tasks (i.e., payroll, training, internal updates)
