What happens if my child is sick and misses their ordered lunch?
Your child’s meal will be donated to another child if they miss a day for which you have ordered.
Will lunches be refunded on days when school is closed for inclement weather and other school closures?
Generally, we do not issue refunds in these instances, as our food product was already procured and on site and we respectfully request that you consider the payment for the lunch as a donation to our charitable program. However, if this does present a concern for you, we request that upon placing your next order you adjust the total when in the payment window and subtract the amount you believe you are owed. All payment options provide the ability for you to “Pay-What-You-Can” as our mission is to provide a lunch for children regardless of their family’s financial situation
I just learned that my child’s school has a Professional Development Day (PD Day) for teachers and school is closed but I ordered for that day. Why was this day an option to order if the school had a PD Day?
PD Days differ from school to school and while our staff maintain consistent contact with all school administrators, PD Days can often be scheduled by the school after our menus have been published. As such, we kindly ask that you consider donating the proceeds of what you paid for the day to the program. However, if this does present a concern for you, we request that upon placing your next order you adjust the total when in the payment window and subtract the amount you believe you are owed. All payment options provide the ability for you to “Pay-What-You-Can” as our mission is to provide a lunch for children regardless of their family’s financial situation.
What happens if I miss the deadline to order?
We always strive to accommodate families that miss the ordering the deadline to the best of our ability, however this often presents challenges given our procurement of food in advance of the week it is served. While we may not be able to accommodate your child for the full month, we will certainly do our best to have lunches provided for them in either the second or third week of the month.
My child was supposed to get lunch today, but the school said they are not on the list to receive lunch. Why is this?
This happens very rarely as our staff always make an extra couple of meals to accommodate children who may be in need of lunch each day. Please call us and we will investigate the situation.
What if I don’t get paid until after the deadline to order?
If you have already ordered and were unable to pay at the time of your order but are looking to make payment after the deadline when you have sufficient funds, an Email Money Transfer (EMT) is the method which we prefer you use to send us a payment. We ask that when you send an EMT, you put the name of your child and the school in the subject line.
Where can I donate and if I choose to donate can I receive a receipt for tax purposes?
As a registered charity we are grateful for all donations. If you wish to make a donation, click the “Donate” button on the top right-hand side of the menu bar. Once in the donation window and prompted for your information you will be asked if you wish to receive a tax receipt.
Can you supply an Ingredients list?
You can find a list of ingredients for each menu item on the top menu bar of our website as well as Provincial School Food Guidelines.
Do you have gluten free, dairy free or vegetarian options and why is there only one meal option each day?
Currently we do not offer any gluten free, dairy free or vegetarian options. Our staff is mindful of the fact that not all children may be interested in our menu options, however our goal is to provide a meal that satisfies the majority of children while adhering to the provincial school food guidelines. Due to a variety of factors including kitchen storage capacity and staffing requirements that differ in each school, we only offer one meal option each day. We suggest that parents/guardians and caretakers take time to view each month’s menu with their children prior to ordering to ensure that you are only selecting the meals in which they wish to eat.
Do you serve Pork?
Pork is not served in any of our meal options
How do I know when ordering is open?
When you click the “menu” section on our website, you will see a calendar that outlines the school year. Dates in which ordering opens and closes as well as statutory holidays and other school close out dates are listed. Each month we send an email to the email address you used to register to inform you that our menus are open. We also send an email reminder mid-week as well as a reminder on the day of the ordering deadline. Further, we can also send you text message reminders if you have opted into our text messaging program. If you have not opted into our text messaging program and wish to do so, please email [email protected]. We also encourage you to follow us on social media for ordering dates and other important information about our program.
