When does registration open?
Registration opens September 8. A one-time annual fee helps cover startup costs: $10 (one child), $15 (two children), $20 (three or more).

To register:
- Visit www.schoollunch.ca
- Click Registration/Orders > Register Here
- Enter your contact details (email, phone number, etc.)
- Opt-in for text message reminders (recommended)
- Add your child(ren):
- Select their school from the dropdown
- Choose the teacher/class (if listed)
- Read and accept notices regarding allergies, closures, and service limits
- Choose a payment method

Ordering Information
When do menus open for ordering?
Menus open monthly with a posted deadline. Check the Meal Ordering Calendar on the site for open/close dates.
How do I get reminders?
We email a notice when menus open, a mid-week reminder, and a deadline-day reminder. Opt in to text reminders by emailing [email protected].
📆 How to Order Meals
Orders are placed online each month using your schoollunch.ca account.
- Menus are released monthly, typically in the second week for meals served the following month.
- School Menus are located in the Menus section of the website.
Step-by-step:
- Click on Register/Order in the Website Menu.
- Sign in to your account on orders.schoollunch.ca * You must be registered and have an account 2025-2026 School Year
- Select your child
- Use the monthly calendar to select dates
- Use “Select All” to order every day
- Click Save Selection, then Confirm Selections
- Choose a payment method
- Get confirmation and receipt via email
You may edit your order any time before the deadline. Missed deadlines may limit availability, but SLA will try to accommodate late orders if possible.
💳 Payment Options
The SLA uses a Pay-What-You-Can model. The suggested price is $5 per meal, but families can contribute more or less.
All payment details are confidential.

- Visa / Mastercard
- Visa Debit / Debit Mastercard
- Email Money Transfer (EMT) to [email protected]
(Include your child’s name and school in the message line) - Pay-What-You-Can (including $0 if needed)
You may also add an optional donation during checkout to help support other families.
Are there refunds for school closures?
Generally no. Food is ordered and on site in advance. We ask families to consider the payment a donation. If this presents a hardship, adjust the total on your next order.
🍲 What’s Included in a Meal?
Each meal includes a full tray of nutritious food, aligned with Provincial School Food Guidelines.
Meals are:
- Cooked and served onsite by SLA staff
- Designed to encourage healthy eating habits

About School Lunch Association
Mission: The School Lunch Association (SLA) is a registered charity that has been serving communities since 1989. Its mission is to operate a non-stigmatizing, pay-what-you-can lunch program to ensure every child receives a hot, nutritious meal at school, regardless of their family’s financial situation.
We currently serve over 6,700 meals daily in 46 schools located across the Northeast Avalon, Clarenville, and Gander regions. Meals are prepared and served by trained SLA staff onsite at each school.
